Dutch police raid Nigerian wedding over noise complaints, sparking racism allegations

A Nigerian wedding in the Netherlands was disrupted by police over the weekend, sparking allegations of racial profiling and unfair treatment after officers reportedly ordered guests to leave the venue.

Videos circulating online showed police officers blocking the entrance as Nigerian guests dressed in traditional attire filed out of the building.

According to reports, the intervention followed complaints about excessive noise in the area. However, the handling of the incident has drawn criticism from some wedding attendees, who questioned the manner in which the celebration was interrupted.

One guest expressed frustration over the officers’ actions, insisting that the event should not have been stopped so abruptly.

“This is someone's wedding. You don't just have to stop it like that,” she said.

In another video that surfaced online, a wedding guest accused the Dutch police of racial profiling, alleging that a Moroccan wedding was taking place simultaneously at the same event centre but was not subjected to similar enforcement.

She claimed that the Nigerian celebration was targeted because the guests were Black Africans, raising concerns about possible discriminatory treatment.

The allegations have generated debate online over the police intervention, although the claims of racial profiling have not been independently established.
